OUR Mission
The Terra Schools educate, nurture, and inspire students of diverse backgrounds to achieve their highest academic and creative potential, to embrace ethical values, and to become active contributors to their communities.
Terra San Francisco’s H-E-A-R-T Values
Students learn to apply H.E.A.R.T. values to various academic and social situations they may encounter at school and in their personal lives.
Help Others and Take Initiative
When Terra Schools students, staff, and families see that help is needed, we take the initiative to ask how we can help the Earth, our fellow students, and ourselves to make sure the Earth is healthy, our classmates feel supported, and we are taken care of.
Elevate
Terra Schools students, staff, and families use our words and actions to elevate each other and ourselves so our community can feel safe, respected, and encouraged to become the best versions of ourselves.
Articulate
Terra Schools students, staff, and families do our very best to articulate our needs, thoughts, and emotions honestly and constructively as possible whenever possible.
Ready
Terra Schools students, staff, and families arrive as ready for the day as possible, always ensuring we’re tending to our own needs, ensuring our minds and bodies are prepared for the day, and collectively creating an environment of readiness.
Take Care of Yourself
Terra Schools students, staff, and families make sure we’re treating our bodies and minds well and taking care of ourselves as best we can, making sure we get enough sleep, pack enough food, bring the right gear, and use our voices to make sure we feel heard and respected.

OUR VALUES

What We Believe
For our students:
-
We believe that all children have gifts and it is our mission to help them discover these gifts.
-
We believe it is in wonder, inquiry and discovery that the magic happens.
-
We believe the learning process is more important than the end result.
-
We believe that when children are heard and valued they become leaders and self-advocates.
-
We believe that children have a right to feel safe and to be accepted for who they are without judgment.
-
We believe that emotional and social IQ is just as important to success as academic achievement.
-
We believe that questions are more important than answers.
For our community
-
We believe a community is a place of emotional safety.
-
We believe a strong school community is a place where everyone belongs and feels seen for who they are.
-
We believe with an emotionally safe and strong community, anything can be achieved.
-
We believe in partnering with families to raise children well.
-
We believe that investing in teachers will create a rich learning environment.
