From Chaos to Calm: Back-to-School Parenting Techniques
Description
During this workshop, you’ll learn parenting strategies to help your child develop their independence, collaboration skills, and attention spans so they are ready for school. Some areas we’ll focus on include:

Encouraging your child’s peer relationships

Developing good communication with your child’s teachers

Creating in-home routines that support growth at school (e.g. interactive reading, turning me games into we games, and negotiating)

Wendy Xa is the Founding Head of School for the Terra Schools, a nature-based, multilingual Mandarin, Spanish, and English educational program for preschoolers through 8th graders. Previously, Wendy founded Presidio Knolls School, a Mandarin Immersion school based in the SoMa district of San Francisco. Wendy brings a fresh perspective as someone who studied neuroscience and founded 2 schools for her 2 daughters.

Shauna Sullivan is the Assistant Head of School at the Terra Schools. She has over 20 years of teaching experience and holds an M.A. and B.A. in Education with a focus in mathematics from SFSU. Shauna has taught every grade from kindergarten through 8th grade.
