About the event

Even on our best days, being a parent takes courage, vulnerability, massive amounts of decision-making, and mood shifting. Each and every day, we are rooted in our love for our children, and still we can worry whether we are “doing it right,” whether the choices we make are setting our children up for future success and loving relationships… and then take all of those mixed emotions and feelings in front of cranky Aunt Jean, or at a crowded airport, or even a dinner party at a good friend’s house while your child has the meltdown of the year or won’t say hi to Grandpa, whose feelings are visibly hurt! Parenting in public involves figuring out how to manage children’s behavior and your own stress in social settings. Drawing on over 40 years of experience as a parent educator and consultant, Darcy will share developmentally grounded insights into why these situations can feel challenging for children and offer practical strategies to help parents. Childcare will be available for children aged 2 to 6 years old.
