An amazing show!

Congrats to The Cast & Crew!

San Anselmo playhouse 27 Kensington Rd, San Anselmo, CA 94960

We just wrapped up our annual school play, Fiddler on the Roof, and it was a huge success! We had months of preparation leading up to our week of intensive training, Tech Week, which culminated in four amazing performances at the San Anselmo Playhouse. It was a whirlwind experience that left us with unexpected moments of reflection, reminding us that some of the most valuable education happens outside of the classroom.

Throughout the week, we witnessed the values of Terra Marin on full display. Our community came together in support of one another, working hard to put on an incredible show. The high expectations were met with an equally high level of support, and together we learned the importance of fragility and resilience. From the performers on stage to the tech crew behind the scenes, everyone had their role to play, and we all learned the importance of taking responsibility for ourselves and for each other. We are grateful for the experience, and we thank everyone who participated, including our wonderful audience who witnessed the magic of theater and the power of community.

And of course huge applause for the maestro of the entire show - Aidan Gavet. You are a remarkable talent in your craft but also in your ability to effectively pull out the very best in every child. This experience has changed who our students are inside and out, how they see and value themselves, and their sense of belonging in the community collective. In giving them this experience, you gave them a place to safely push themselves and to bond with their classmates, parents, and teachers in important and long-lasting ways. However, even more importantly, you gave them the opportunity to try something new, find success and shine! What an amazing gift! Thank you for your vision, dedication, and leadership. You helped create an experience that not only helped the children grow as young people but that they will hold fondly in their hearts and minds for a lifetime.

About the event:

The Broadway hit Fiddler on the Roof is renowned for its central theme and emphasis on Jewish customs in the early 1900s. This musical's storyline delves deeply into Jewish identity, traditions, and relationships. Throughout this trying period in history, Jews were excluded and punished for being who they were. They had to firmly hang on to their traditions and ideals no matter what challenges were thrown their way. However, as the times changed, some people started to doubt various aspects of tradition, particularly the practice of arranged marriages. While vividly illustrating Jewish customs, Fiddler on the Roof also depicts the world as it changes through time.
